The summer months have arrived and it’s all about simplifying the wardrobe, hair, makeup and protecting your skin from the sun. Below are the essentials for looking fantastic but keeping it simple.
Bronzer
Pick up a bronzing powder to even out your skin tone and overall color during the summer months because chances are, your color will be affected and likely uneven by all the time you’ll be spending outdoors.
Be sure that the bronzer is a good match for you – keep in mind that your winter skin tone may not be what you are sporting in the summer and if you find a bronzer that comes with SPF, consider that as well for an added layer of sun protection.
Not sure how to make the right choice? Here’s an article on the topic.
Pink Lipstick/Gloss
Pink or neutral glosses and lipsticks are the perfect touch to lighten up your look without the need for caking on makeup. Summer is about light and fresh and light pink or gloss is the way to make that happen.
Sunscreen
Pick up a variety of sunscreens to meet your needs this summer. Out in the sun to run errands? Pick up a moisturizer that includes sunscreen to put on before you apply your make-up. Headed to the beach? Apply the usual layers of sprays and/or lotions to make sure that continuous exposure doesn’t result in a burn and long term skin damage.
Sunhats
Whether you’re wearing a fedora-like hat as pictured or a wide brimmed floppy hat, it’s an added layer of sun protection that can also add an element of style, so pick up a couple of fantastic hats to compliment your summer looks.
Sundresses
Stock your closet with easy to throw on sundresses. They’re light, airy and perfect for the summer heat. Pick up a variety of colors, cuts and styles to keep your wardrobe more interesting instead of picking up the same dress in five different colors. Experiment with color in the summer months – coral and cobalt blue as pictured here are perfect for the season as are kelly green and magenta.
Sassy Shades
Protect your eyes from those rays with a pair of great sunglasses. Pick a pair of cat eye shades, aviators, or those pictured above. Whatever fits your fancy, but pick up a pair to keep the sun at bay.
What are your summer staples? What am I missing from this list?
