If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you know that I try to live as green as I can, and use green products whenever I can as well. I’ve told you about a lot of “green” products both here on this site and over at SmartMomPicks.com, too. But one brand I’ve yet to mention is one of my all time favorites, Aveda.
Aveda strongly believes in using all natural ingredients in their products and to care for the world by using recyclable materials in their packaging. Check out their mission statement, it says it all:

Now let me tell you why I love Aveda products. They are high quality, reasonably priced products that actually work. Okay, some of the products are pricey, but I’ve found that those products are products I actually continue to buy because they’re worth it.
Another thing I like about the products is their scents. They all smell very natural and earthy. When I use them, I feel like I’m at a healing spa!
And Aveda products are natural products – they even promise it. Aveda’s Green Ingredient Promise means they not only use, but strive to increase the use of naturally derived ingredients. This means they use ingredients inwhich more than 50% of the molecule comes from a plant, non-petroleum mineral, or other natural source, like water. Not only that, but more than 90% of Aveda’s essential oils and 89% of our raw herbal ingredients are certified organic.
I recently received an email from them that was really cool: it listed 8 naturally derived ingredients that work wonders on hair and skin. I like they they include what an ingredient does and how it helps.
I’m a huge fan of Aveda’s hand relief (and if you purchase this month, $4 is donated to breast cancer research!), be curly curl enhancer, and the caribbean therapy soy wax candle. But my most favorite product by far is the Damage Remedy Hair Repair collection.
If your hair is damaged from heavy styling, too much sun or too much coloring, you have to check out the Damage Remedy system. This stuff works, and it works really well.
Although the kit is priced at $100 dollars for four products, it’s worth every penny. You literally only need to use a dime size amount of it, so it lasts a very long time. And since using it, I only have to wash it every other day.
Damage remedy makes your hair smoother and healthier. It also cuts down on frizz, which means I don’t have to blow dry it and can let it air dry more often!
