When There’s No More “Love” in “I Love You”

I’m starting to think my neighborhood is the place where marriages come to die.

Have no fear, I’m not referring to my own. I don’t know if it’s our stage in life, the ‘hood itself or how the moon and stars are aligned, but it seems like a lot of people are getting divorced right now.

I tip my proverbial hat to those women who can take a hugely emotional and stressful event, like a divorce or difficult breakup, and turn it into an opportunity to be enterpreneurial.

Pink Kisses has its roots in a bad breakup.

Pink Kisses is a website that offers tools, products and resources to help gals get past heartbreak and find some moxie again.

First, they’ve got a blog, and they offer style advice for girls’ nights out and tips for working through the stages of heartbreak. They vlog, too.

And they’ve got a product section where gals can purchase some fun things to start movin’ on. This is my favorite part of the site. Here are a couple of the cool things they offer:

An “action plan” for $10. Sign up, and the Pink Kisses girls email a daily tip for 30 days on how to move on and move past. Let’s face it, women love self-help stuff. I’d be all over this if I were in that boat. And if the heartbroken gal is still in a pit of despair after 30 days, they can get 30 to 60 more days of tips with new content.

Boxes of truffles. I gotta disagree with this approach. If I’m down and out and listening to nothing but Air Supply, chances are that I’ve already downed 5 pints of Ben and Jerry’s and I’m likely to start drinking Hershey’s syrup directly out of the bottle.

So, I wouldn’t need my girlfriends sending me chocolate truffles. But the flavors do look delicious – birthday cake, amaretto and pink champagne are some of the featured flavors!

2 weeks of texts. The even higher-tech version of the email action plan for the gal who needs more instant gratification than email. Two weeks of one text per day with inspirational messages will run you 8 bucks.

Personal stylist consultation. This is a really cool idea, and one I think most women going through a breakup would appreciate, because when you’re depressed, you feel like a schlump. For $28 to $98, you can get one outfit or an entire lookbook put together by Pink Kisses’ stylist.

The recipient fills out a form talking about her likes and dislikes, and the stylist sets up a phone chat, and then sends over recommendations within the specified budget. This is an example of what your brokenhearted BFF would get if you got her the one-outfit stylist deal – with links on where to buy everything.

And if you know someone who is careening toward Trainwreck, USA, after a breakup? You can always get them time with Pink Kisses’ life coach. Or, arrange a girls’ weekend in Austin, Texas, for a photo pinup party, where a hairdresser and makeup artist will make the gal feel like a 50s pinup girl, complete with photos!

I think Pink Kisses plays right into the minds of women and knows what we want when a guy’s said goodbye. It’ll be interesting to see if they can continue their success!

I’d love to see something like this for when you’re in the midst of the bad times and trying to make it work with your spouse- some great ideas if there was something out there to give us pep talks and send much needed therapy and support and maybe ways to spark up the marriage?
