What to Do With Old Books

Sometimes you just can’t bear to part with a worn out old book. Tossing it would feel like a waste, even though it’s not in good condition anymore. There are ways to give them new life, and I am loving the idea of decorating my house here and there with old book pages.

Here are a few ideas:

The first two are from a pair of friends and bloggers from My Crafty Adventures and Mark Montano Blogs, who engage in a little friendly competition called He Crafts, She Crafts. I love both ideas, so I’ve included them here. There’s a candle holder (flameless candles!) and a beautiful wreath.

Romantic Homes has another spin on a wreath.

Country Living has a how-to on creating a vase from book pages. No, you won’t be able to put flowers inside, but they’re gorgeous decorations for book lovers.

Hungry Panda doesn’t use the pages. Instead, an old hardback cover is the main feature in the purse. This one’s fun because you can showcase your taste in literature and your crafting talent all at once.

Other ideas include using book pages as wallpaper, cutting out certain words to use as art in the form of a collage, or decoupaged onto another item.
