I recently purchased my first pair of TOMS shoes. I always thought they were ugly until I saw the Glitters collection. When I got to the store, silver glittery, happy shoes in mind, I saw a metallic linen pair in pewter that I picked up instead, afraid the glitter would shed as I wore the other style.
So far, I have no regrets.
If you’re not familiar with the TOMS line, there are a couple of things you should know:
- You should read the reviews before you buy them to see how much they tend to stretch out with wear. The pair I got is supposed to stretch up to at least a half size, so they needed to hug my feet tightly in the store. The glittery shoes, on the other hand, supposedly stretch out a little less, so I would’ve needed to get my regular size, not a half size down.
- For each pair that you purchase, another pair of shoes is donated to a kid in need through their One to One movement. So though $54-65 for a pair of casual, simple shoes may seem like a lot, you’re doing a good deed at the same time.
So how do they wear? Mine are still in the process of stretching out to fit my feet perfectly, but I love them already. They’re lightweight and breathable, so it’s almost like not wearing shoes at all. The canvas upper is so thin and flexible, it adds to the barefoot feeling. The suede insole and latex arch support make these comfortable for my high arches.
