I’m all for guilty pleasure T.V. but I cannot say that I am sad to see Jersey Shore leave my stream of options. When I heard they were canceling Jersey Shore after it’s 6th season run this fall, I first thought, “Has it really been six seasons??” Then I thought…who really watches that horrific trainwreck of a show?
Apparently, 5-8 million people at any one given time.
Come again?!
They even gave spinoff series to several of the cast members.
Seriously folks, why are we tuning into this nonsense? And I’m talking to myself too because I know my Real Housewives of insert-big-city-name-here is just as bad. Those women are nuts!
But, to be real, I think these shows are making us more vain, less empathetic and quite frankly…less intelligent. Add in the fact that the people we think are “talented” include the likes of Snookie and Kim Kardashian.
I’m just so disappointed in all of us.
Myself included.
{hangs head in shame}
The first time I saw a random clip of Jersey Shore and all of their boisterous, off the wall behaviors, I just could not manage viewing the show. So, I passed it up. Then, they blew up with their GTL, getting arrested on the beach and Italy shenanigans and publishing books???
I guess I’m getting old…all 34 years of me just can’t stomach the Shore, or the Kardashians, for that matter. I mean, good for them for having life go this way for them. I do hope they invested the money they made wisely!
Personally, I like to view television that is more uplifting. I prefer comedies that make me laugh, not train wrecks that focus on the drama and ridiculousness of human nature, which obviously seems to drive ratings.
Teen Mom…birth control for other teens or exploiting an unfortunate scenario?
Honey Boo Boo Child?! Don’t even get me started on that “hit” series. What on earth makes that so interesting?
Let’s stop the madness! We need to stop our children from idolizing these tools.
Ok…off the soapbox.
Do you watch any of these shows? If so, please enlighten me as to why you just can’t. stop. watching.Â
I swear…no judgement. {Ahem}
