Sometimes you’re just too busy to wash and dry your hair. Or you manage to wash it at night and then fall asleep with it wet and it’s just too much to deal with the next day.
Cute hats to the rescue, and that’s one more reason to love summer! Sure, you can pick up a hat any time of the year, but little straw fedoras like the Mossimo ones at Target right now (above) are like little rays of sunshine, especially if you get one with a bright band of color.
I love tossing this one on with a maxi-dress for a chic combo that takes about 30 seconds to put on. It looks like I put more thought into it than I actually did, not something I can say for the jeans/shorts and t-shirt combo I’m usually sporting in the summer.
The brim of the hat isn’t wide enough to totally protect you at the beach, but it’ll be perfect for day to day wear, and since it’s straw, it’s not going to overheat your head and make you so uncomfortable, you want to expose that crazy hair to the world after all.
It’s also one of the more comfortable hats I own. Some of them slip and slide all around my head, but this one’s snug enough to stay where it’s supposed to be without squeezing so much I get a headache.
Another option, for a vintage vibe, is the cloche hat. The style was popular in the 20s and 30s, and now there’s a glare-blocking modern take on it, complete with a cute pleated band.
Now, if you need some more serious sun protection (though I still recommend SPF!) and want something that will block the sun a little better, the Merona Red Audrey Floppy Bow hat from Target is adorable. It looks like it was designed to be taken on beach trips or outings to the lake where you’ll spend a day lounging in the sun and reading.
