There are way more fun ways to do up your muffler than to simply toss it around your neck. Two Real Simple fashion editors demonstrate.
Bathing suit season is officially here with the annual opening of the pools on Memorial Day. I dread it every year. I am a mom. I have very little time to work out, no time to tan in any form (including but not limited to tanning booths, spray tan, airbrushing or lounging by the pool) and very little energy left to watch what I am eating, control portion sizes and insure that it is organic, fresh and healthy.
What does that leave? Me, with a lot of good intentions and most definitely not looking forward to seeing myself poured into some Lycra/spandex body hugging bathing suit. Read more…
Since I’ve been writing here at SmartMomStyle.com and SmartMomPicks.com (can you believe it’s been 7 months!), people ask me all the time where I come up with ideas to write about. At first, I was kind of panicking that I would run out of things to write, until I realized that writing on these sites actually gave me a reason to purchase more magazines.
Yep, I subscribe to a lot of magazines. A LOT of them. I always have – you could say I’m a magazine junkie. You’d probably roll your eyes if I told you how many. So after the kids go to bed and I have some time to myself, I flip through magazines and find products and topics that interest me. So far, I’ve never been at a loss for something to write about! Here are 3 magazines that I wouldn’t want to live without.
Taste of Home
For over 10 years, I’ve subscribed to Taste of Home. It is by far my favorite magazine. Why do I love this magazine so much? Because it’s full of recipes from real home cooks. Recipes that their Field Editors share. Recipes that you can send in for a chance to have published. Everyday moms just like you and I are sharing their recipes with Taste of Home.
These are recipes that you can make every night of the week. Recipes that don’t require a ton of ingredients, time or energy. There are pictures of each recipe included, so if you’re like me and eat with your eyes, it’s the perfect way to get your tummy rumbling.
Everyday With Rachael Ray
This is my second favorite magazine. Not only is there a ton of recipes including in each issue, but also travel features, product features, restaurant features and more. Everyday With Rachael Ray even has the “feel” of Rach’s fun personality. The website offers even more recipes, fun features, how-to’s and more.
This magazine has been around since 1909, and I believe that every single mom/person who runs a household/person who has no clue how to run a household should subscribe to Good Housekeeping. Obviously my first two magazine selections are focused on cooking, and while Good Housekeeping does include lots of recipes, it offers so much more.
Whether you are interested in home, organization, health, beauty, family, relationships, product reviews or all of the above, you’ll find it in this magazine. This magazine is packed full of tips, how-to’s, time savers, short cuts and more.
Products that carry the Good Housekeeping Seal are pretty much guaranteed to be the best of the best.
I can’t recommend this magazine enough!
