Guess who is finally buying a new house? We are! Well, it’s a new old house. Every house we’ve ever owned has been brand new but we are trying something new because the neighborhood we want to live in has no space for new builds. The best we can hope for is the ability to remodel, rebuild or refresh. Most definitely, to start with we will be refreshing our new old house up.
Here are a few easy steps to refresh a home you’re buying or just update the one you already own.
- Repaint the walls in a room to give it a fresh new look. It’s amazing how paint can change the entire dynamic of the room. Also, paint is a very cheap way to renovate and update outdated rooms. A fresh coat of paint can lift the mood of the owner and make visitors feel more welcome. It creates the illusion of new, even if it’s old. *This also works wonders for making your old deck furniture look new again.
- Replace hardware in kitchens and bathrooms. Sometimes something as simple as changing the knobs on your cabinets can make your old cabinets look new.
- Spruce up your home, yard and porch by adding some greenery or simply trimming your hedges and pruning your flowers, giving crisp edges and adding character and love to your home. Adding some new mulch also really helps brighten up your landscaping and makes the house pop from the curb.
