What is it about New Girl that makes it so damn irresistible? Are you a fan of Zooey Deschanel?
I am a big fan. I got hooked last year and waited all summer for New Girl to return. I’m not sure what it is that keeps me on the hook. Is it the Three’s Company dynamic of the living arrangement? Is it Zooey Deschanel’s amazing wardrobe and adorable personality? Or is it the deadpan humor and cute boys? I am guessing it’s because it’s refreshingly funny and more sexually nuanced than it probably should be.
It’s genuinely fun to watch. It’s a show about 4 genuinely nice people, who think they are flawed. The flaws are ones that we can all relate to. The characters are human and that is refreshing to find on television.
This week’s double episode premiere did not disappoint either. There was a job loss for Jess, Zooey Deschanel, a renewed spirit and removal of penis cast for Schmidt. There was casual sex and a deepening of friendships. One relationship ended and there was a hint at the beginning of a new one.
If you are not a fan of New Girl, you should be. I can’t wait until next Tuesday to see what happens next. I’ll be watching. Will you?
