More Than a Tank and Shorts: Beach Cover-ups

In a perfect world, we wouldn’t even feel the need for beach cover-ups anywhere near the sand or the pool. If you’re like me, you don’t strip down to your swimsuit until the last possible second, so you might as well hit the beach (or pool) wearing something prettier than running shorts and a tank.

Most beach cover-ups are either in the sarong, tunic, or full-on dress categories, so this gauze top and pants set is perfect for the mom looking for a little something different to throw on top of her swimsuit. It’s lightweight and comes in white or natural (pale khaki).

Where else would you go other than Victoria’s Secret when you want something super sexy? This caftan dress comes in white, black, and electric melon, so there’s something there for every suit and every skin tone. The low V-neck and kimono sleeves make it feel and look especially flowy and feminine in the beach breeze.

This Steve Madden cover-up can actually be worn six different ways. It comes in two color options: pink/yellow/orange/brown or purple/pink/teal/green. If you have a lot of suits, or you sometimes feel more comfortable baring more skin than other times, this one will allow you to experiment. It can also be worn as a scarf.

Do you wear a special cover-up at the beach? Do you prefer a sarong, caftan or tunic style, or do you just pick something like a pair of shorts and a t-shirt from your drawer or closet?
