Look like You had a Face Lift Without going Under the Knife

We are all getting older each day. There is no way around it. We are born, we live, we get old and eventually, it shows where no one can ignore it…our face.

We all like to think that we look younger than we actually do. I thought it was just me but the other day I heard a woman in her sixties ask this when she saw a photo of herself, “Is that me? Do I really look that old?” In my mind, I thought, “Yeah, that’s actually a pretty good photo of you.”

Fear not ladies, there is something we can all do aside from going under the knife for a face-lift. Let’s be honest, many of us don’t have the financial fortitude to afford a face-lift and aside from that, thanks to all the how-to surgical shows on TLC and Discovery Health, I could never do that to myself, no matter how badly I may not want to look like the crypt keeper.

Get Ready to Blush

Learn to put your blush on the apples of your cheeks not the boniest part of your cheeks. Putting blush on the high bone of your cheek will make your cheeks look sunken in, creating the dreaded in need of hospice look. Also, using a cream blush creates a more youthful look. I’m all for looking more youthful.

Highlight. Highlight.Highlight.

Applying a highlighting cream two shades lighter than your skin tone to areas that show age like your cheeks, brow bones and the bridge of your nose. Highlighting cream will help to remove some of those shadows cast on our face as it ages and creating a younger looking you.

Tame Those Brows.

Eyebrows thin as we age, thanks to fluctuations in hormones. Well-groomed and well-defined eyebrows can add to a more youthful appearance. Use an eyebrow powder to fill in thinning areas where eyebrows may be sparser.

In my own personal opinion, I would steer clear of using a hard line brow pencil unless you are going for the What ever Happened to Baby Jane look.

Put Some Pep into Your Moisturizer.

Use a caffeinated eye cream to help constrict your blood vessels. The caffeine helps reduce puffiness. Nothing makes you look older more prematurely than luggage under your eyes. Granted we all have this to some degree. My under eye Samsonite was issued at the hospital when I gave birth to each of my children.

Curl Those Lashes.

This tip is for all women of every age – curl your lashes. Curling eyelashes will help open up your eyes and give you that youthful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed look that we all crave so much.

These are just a few ways to make yourself appear more youthful than you may actually be. What’s wrong with wanting to look 25 when you are 35? Absolutely nothing, and if we can do it without going the surgical way, why not?

What are your favorite age-defying beauty tricks and products?

I swear by Benefit Brow Zings to fill in those fading eyebrows – it’s a wax and setting powder in a little compact and it looks totally natural and is long lasting.  Also, I love Dior lash plumping serum – it’s like a primer for lashes and actually curls the lashes!  I follow up with DiorShow mascara – it gives great lash!

Stay 10 pounds overweight and your plumpness will help round out and soften the wrinkles in your face … that’s what I tell myself, anyway! :)
