Link Round-Up: Shaking Things Up for Spring

When the seasons start to change—which season doesn’t matter—I always like to shake things up. A lot. I get kind of quirky with my fashion, clean out a ton of clutter in my home, and then it just snowballs from there.

I know it’s been warming up for a while, but where I live, the weather’s been back and forth. Up until a week or two ago, I thought it could still very easily snow (and I live in the south–crazy). So now that it’s seriously warming up, it’s time to make some changes. I found some great ideas today, like:

Ain’t No Mom Jeans’ suggestion to wear those dresses that are just a bit too short to run around in “mom role” on top of a maxi dress that looks a little too frumpy (or in the case of one of the ones I have, a little too revealing on top). It’s a whole new look and it keeps two dresses from doing nothing but hanging out in the closet while your yoga pants and tank tops get all the love.

Miami kitchen

If you’re sick of preparing meals in a dark, outdated kitchen with an awkward layout like I am, you’ll love living vicariously through the images at Casa Sugar, where they’ve given a kitchen new life with a Miami update. Or maybe you’ll just go for it and do your own remodel.

Garden stool

Mint is making a comeback in home décor. It’s got that retro feel that matches what’s going around in fashion, television shows, and, well, everywhere else these days. Check out Musings in Mint for a look at mint accents and how they can liven up a room. Who wouldn’t want an old-fashioned mint-colored phone or garden stool?

Spring makeup

This swoon-worthy spring makeup look from Everything Fab is easy to pull off since there’s not a ton of eye makeup detail. It’s all about the cheeks and lips and it’ll look good on just about everyone. If your skin tone’s a little cooler, look for pinker cheek and lip colors to get the same glowing, radiant effect.

At Chookooloonks, Karen talks about how social media often dwells on the negative moments–complaining about spouses, kids, kids’ teachers, politicians, etc. She challenges her readers to use her list of 10 things that will shift that, putting more good into the world via Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites.

Balenciaga bag

Finally, Mother’s Day may be over, but Style.com’s still got some gifts worth looking at (for yourself or someone special who has a birthday coming up) in their slideshow of Mother’s Day gifts. One of my favorites is the Balenciaga Floral Print Leather Tote, above. Now you’re jonesin’ for some new stuff. You’re welcome.

Have fun switching things up with color!
