It’s Your Child and I’ll Slap Them If I Want To

What would you do if an adult hit your child? I am not talking about corporal punishment at school, which I am completely against, by the way. I mean a bonafide “adult” who gets mad at your child and takes it upon themselves to slap your kid right across the face?

Personally, I don’t care what my child has done; keep your hands to yourself. Sure, we’ve all had moments when our own kids are driving us completely out of our minds and we wish we could slap some sense into them, but who ever does that?

I don’t. I don’t hit my kids. That means no one else can either. No nun, no principal and certainly not some random mom on the playground.

Apparently, they parent by other rules in Texas. Police arrested a woman, Talysa Herron, for allegedly slapping a 10-year-old girl who refused to share her ice cream with Herron’s 4-year-old, daughter.

The 10-year-old had bought herself an ice cream from an ice cream truck when Herron’s daughter asked for a bite and then proceeded to grab for the ice cream. The 10-year-old refused and slapped the smaller child’s hand away. Sure the 10-year-old could have shown some restraint and just walked away, but she didn’t and that was a big mistake.

As the 10-year-old girl began to walk home, an enraged Talysa Herron followed in pursuit. What happened next is something bad parenting books are made of; the 29-year-old Herron not only yelled at the frightened 10-year-old, she proceeded to slap her in the face.

The 10-year-old ran home upset (and probably scared to death) as Herron stalked her by car. At the home, the frightened 10-year-old’s mother, Cyndi Lafontaine, confronted Herron and was then viciously attacked, as well.

Personally, the person that I think should have been getting beaten in this scenario is a completely out of control Talysa Herron. I understand Herron getting bit annoyed at the 10-year-old for slapping away her little angel’s hand.

We’ve all been there, that moment when we see the deflation and hurt in our child’s eye. It makes us see red, but we can’t go around slapping other people’s kids. It’s just not how society works.

We’ve all encountered foul-mouthed hooligans who we’d love to knock some sense into, but that’s not our right or responsibility. If Herron was that mad, she could have just followed the 10-year-old home (still very creepy and abduction like) and told the kid’s mother about her offensive behavior and let her mother handle it.

Because we all know there is nothing worse than our kid acting like a punk in front of other parents and then having them point it out. I’m pretty sure that Cyndi Lafontaine would have handled her daughter appropriately.

Honestly, if I were Cyndi Lafontaine, I would have been out of my mind pissed off. I don’t spank my own children. There is no way that I would allow some other mother to slap my child.

If I saw some out of her mind mother charging up my walk towards my kid, especially after hearing that she has just slapped my child, I would have introduced her to my little friend. Talysa Herron, meet my bat. Bat, say hello to this crazy lady.

That is a crazy story! I would be so upset if that had happened to my child!

It has nothing to do with Texas. Ghetto trash behaves the same way in Milwaukee, Chicago, Baltimore and New Orleans.
