I’m Not a Mistress; I’m a Mom

Rielle Hunter, on again off again mistress of John Edwards and mother of his love child, has written a book, What Really Happened; John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me. I must admit, I don’t think too much about Ms. Hunter, nor do I care what her version of the story is so I won’t be wasting my money on the book.

However, I do watch Good Morning America and this morning, Rielle Hunter just happened to be on the show speaking about the book – or should I say bad mouthing Elizabeth Edwards, her lover’s dead wife, almost constantly throughout the book.

I guess it’s fair to talk trash about someone who isn’t here to defend herself. After all the misery Rielle has caused in the past few years, now she decides it’s time that her and John Edwards split ties.

Seems a bit convenient and opportunistic to me. What are the chances that after all this time and bad press, now would be the time she decides to split from Edwards…the weekend before the release of her tell-all book? Seems to me this is an in poor taste publicity stunt.

The book, described by Rielle Hunter herself on GMA, doesn’t seem very interesting. It makes a lot of big promises but falls short of telling us anything we didn’t already know. The only thing that Ms. Hunter truly does well is confirming all the rumors that she is a very unlikable character.

She definitely kisses and tells, so politicians beware. In regards to Ms. Hunter’s declaration, “I’m not a mistress; I’m a mom”, I have to disagree. Even prostitutes can get pregnant and have children. You were a mistress and that is how you got to the epicenter of all this baby mama drama in the first place. This is a chicken/egg situation, lady.

What are your thoughts on Rielle Hunter writing a tell-all book that tarnishes the memory of her lover’s deceased wife and can easily be read by his children? Gold digger, fame whore or mom trying to make ends meet?
