How Much Would You Spend on a Dress for a Little Girl?
This started out as a post about cute playtime dresses for little girls, and quickly turned into a bout of sticker shock as I made my way through undeniably adorable designer girls’ dresses.
The first one that caught my eye, not because I thought it’d be lovely to wear in the sandbox but mostly because it was shiny, was the Dolce & Gabbana Gold Sequin Shift Dress for $700.00.
I looked up play clothes for one thing. And though I know every lady, young and old, needs a dress that makes her feel fantastic, I couldn’t personally imagine dropping $700 on a dress that wouldn’t last a whole year on a growing child.
(For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t spend $700 on a dress for myself outside of the wedding dress I bought for about that much ten years ago).
Even the Chiffon Polka Dot Dress and Bloomers, also from Dolce & Gabbana (and therefore required to be pricey), is $345.50. At first glance, I thought it was a cute, affordable outfit for summertime.
I’m sure these designer clothes are well made and the fabric and details are fantastic, but I can’t wrap my head around how much they cost and how little they’ll be worn (unless you have lots of daughters and buy the clothes for the oldest and keep handing them down).
You have to admit, most of them are beautiful and sure to make any little girl feel like a princess (or a rock star, depending on the style), though.
Do you dress your girls in designer styles? Would you, if your paycheck would allow it?
