Recently, I’ve had a bit of a skin flare up, which is weird considering the fact that I never had pimples as a teen. Okay, that’s not entirely true. I did have ONE pimple ONCE a month from the ages of 13 to 17; obviously my body was raging against the menstruating machine.

I still loathe Shark week but, what gives? My body’s gone all mutiny on the bounty on my face. I’ve done some research and I have prepared myself for battle. Let’s be honest, it’s just not fair to have a cluster of pimples next to a lone gray hair. It’s just NOT right.

Whole grains. When it comes to thwarting acne, fiber-packed whole grains work best. They are packed with antioxidants.

Fish. Omega-3 fatty acids, cold-water, oily fish are loaded with anti-inflammatory qualities that will fight acne to the death.

Green vegetables. Inflammation-fighting nutrients and loads of antioxidants – what more could you want from an acne fighting food? Fiber? Why yes, we do have high fiber, too.

Purple/Dark red foods. Foods that are high in antioxidants help maintain blood flow to the skin, promoting optimum cell turnover that helps fight breakouts.

Water. When fighting acne, water is your best friend. Water keeps your skin hydrated and flushes the body of toxins.

What are your acne fighting natural remedies?

I am definitely finding that I break out after eating fried food now that I don’t eat them hardly at all anymore!

How could I live this long and never hear it referred to as Shark week before? Too funny. 1. I would have probably would have hated you in high school. 2. I find it interesting that aside from the water, my 13 year old avoids most items on this list and does suffer from break outs. I need to print this out.

Hang in there Mama! Try proactive. I had a similar issue and bought the three step system. I used it for about 2 months and my face was back to normal. Since then, I use Neutrogena wash and cream (for sensitive skin spf 30). I drink plenty of water and always tie my hair back (which also is now showing grays) when I am home.
