Google+: How’s it any Different than Facebook?

Google+ is Google’s latest foray into social media to compete with Facebook. I understood Google Friend but honestly I am kind of lost with Google+. Like most social media savvy people, of course I have a Google+ account. Hell, I was even one of the few who got an invitation, but that’s about as far as it has gone. I just don’t get it.

Here are some of the features:

Circles: You can group your followers by “circles” i.e. kick ass bloggers or family. You can also choose which circles that you would like to have flooding your wall; think the same concept as lists on Twitter.

Real Time Stream: This is very similar to your wall on Facebook and updates in real time.

Hangouts: This is by far the coolest feature. On Facebook you can chat in real time but on Google+ you can video chat in real time. It’s like Skype on Google.

Photo Share and Upload: This is much like Facebook and you can also tag people in photos, as well.

Sharing: You can share posts, video and photos with your circles.

Connect to your other social media profiles: You can connect your Google+ account to your Linked in, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Yahoo, Hotmail and several other accounts.

The more I look at it, it seems like it could be a lot of fun. I just need a couple more hours in the day to have to time to play with it.

Do you have a Google+ account? Come friend me on Google+ and we can learn together.
