As women, we spend our lives trying to figure out ways to stay attractive and remain youthful looking. It’s what society’s selling and we people with the uteri, we are buying it. I am not exempt; I am fighting a perpetual battle with facial hair. I am Latina and with all that thick, dark, glorious hair on the top of my head comes thick, dark, glorious hair…everywhere, including right above my lip. I know I should be embarrassed to tell you ladies about this but I figure I’m not the only one, so I am sharing some ways to rid that beautiful face of yours of facial hair, in order from least painful to most painful.
Growth Inhibiting Creams: Painless. These are normally a prescription strength cream that slows down growth of new facial hair.
Depilatory Creams: This is near painless. It is a cream that breakdowns the hair and makes it easy to remove from the skin. Unfortunately, it can cause irritation and is not a great option for the face, in my opinion. Results last about 2 weeks.
Waxing: You have the option of salon waxing or at home waxing. I have done both and I think at home waxing is much more painful, just because you do NOT want to pull that strip off of yourself. Results last up to 4 weeks.
Plucking/Tweezing: Plucking works well for small clean ups but I would not recommend it for removing a lot of facial hair. It is fairly painful and time consuming but great for controlling removal.
Permanent Treatments: Laser hair removal and electrolysis destroys hair by zapping it with intense light or electrical currents. This is more painful than waxing.
