This fall has such a wide range of trendy colors coming at us, it’ll be hard not to stock up.
Earth Tones
This is a usual for fall, but this year has a few tweaks. Olive green seems to be more popular than ever, and there are shades of camel, goldenrod, rust, and chocolate brown just waiting to tack on a little more warmth to your outfit.
If you’re a little color-shy but want to start to branch out, these shades make great gateway polishes. Before you know it, spring will be here and you’ll be ready to sport the neons. Try Butter London Wallis, China Glaze in Classic Camel or Essie in Alligator Purse.
Light and Airy
Barely-there tones that glow are beautiful, too, and if you can never get your polish to last long no matter what you do, these are perfect. A couple of chips won’t be as obvious as they would be if you had on a deep, metallic apple red. Try Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Fairy Tale or Sephora by OPI in Chamomile-Ion to One.
Gothic-Lite
Dark, blackened shades are creeping their way back onto fingertips in the fall. One trend is to just paint the very tips of the nails with these colors for a reverse French manicure effect. Try burgundy, plum, deep berry, dark purple, or midnight blue. Try China Glaze in Jungle Queen or Prey Tell.
Shades of Gray and Taupe
Some of the most work-friendly nail polishes for fall come in cool grays and taupes (sometimes with a little shimmer), which is good news for women who can’t carry off the warmer earth tones. This makes a flattering, neutral alternative. Try Orly Cool Romance, Maybelline Express Finish in Cocoa Motion or China Glaze in Pelican Gray.
The Blues
All shades of blue are hot, hot, hot. Teal counts, too. Try royal blue, creamy primary blue, deep sky blue, midnight blue, navy, or any shade in between. Especially if you mourn the end of the hot pink and neon coral days, this bold color could take the edge off your pain. Try OPI in Yoga-Ta Get This Blue or Zoya Nail Polish in Marina.
Heavy Metal
Metallics often pop up in the fall, but gold and rose-gold are especially in the forefront this year. Get those mirror-like manicures that blend in with any mood or wardrobe by using Nails Inc. London Special Effects Mirror Metallic Nail Polish in Stratford (above) or any shade from the Essie Mirror Metallics collection.
