Last month we took the girls to Disney World in Orlando. It was a lot of fun for the entire family. If you have never been, it is definitely some place that everyone should go at least once.
We were only there for two days so we only had the time to visit 3 of the parks. The girls’ favorite park was Magic Kingdom because it was over run with princesses and kiddie rides, but a close second was Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the largest of the Disney parks with 500 acres that serve as home to over 1700 different animals. It’s a combination of one of the best zoo’s I’ve ever been to (only outdone, in my book, by the National Zoo in D.C.), great shows and some pretty awesome rides, but beware the heat is unforgiving. The heat index is somewhere between a sauna in August and hell. Drink plenty of fluids while walking around the Animal Kingdom.
First thing you MUST do at the Animal Kingdom is take the Kilimanjaro safari expedition and do it first thing in the morning; once it heats up, those animals are not moving. My girls loved it because the animals came right up to the truck. We were driving near the giraffes and had to stop because one came so close that we could touch it. It was amazing.
The other things that I would highly recommend doing at the Animal Kingdom is taking a photo with the tree of life in it, riding expedition Everest and watching Finding Nemo the musical and the Festival of the Lion King.
My girls were scared witless but really enjoyed Dinosaur the ride. One last thing that I think every family should do at the Animal Kingdom is walking the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. The trail ends with the lowland Gorillas and if you have never seen them in person, they are something majestic to behold.
There are lots more attractions to see and do at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom but these are my favorites. What is your favorite Animal Kingdom attraction?
