Coats to Live In

I joke that as soon as October rolls around, I’m not going to thaw back out until April or May because I can’t seem to get warm. I really do live in my coats, especially peacoat and trench styles. The warmer the better, but bulk’s always a turn-off when shopping for a coat.

The J.Crew Stadium Cloth Mod Coat comes in navy, dark poppy, and bright butternut and it’ll brighten up any day (I really love the yellow one for a gloomy afternoon). It’s on sale and listed at $249 on the site (it’s normally $350), but if you shop before Sunday the 28th with the coupon code OURTREAT, you’ll get an extra 30 percent off.

At first glance, it doesn’t look like a very warm coat, but it’s made from a dense Italian wool, so it may be warmer than you’d think.

The Tommy Hilfiger Women’s Down-Filled Jacket from Overstock is a bit bulkier, but it cinches in at the middle, so a little bulk is forgivable. It’s available in black, winter white, and loden (dark green). It’s $81.99. The down will be incredibly warm in the winter, and the shell is water-resistant.

Here’s another wool trench coat, this time from Victoria’s Secret so it’s sure to have feminine details that you may not find in all other coats of a similar style, like a pleated hem. It cinches in at the waist with the help of a belt, and comes in seven solid shades as well as plaid.

These coats are versatile and warm without being bulky, which is what I tend to look for when I shop for outerwear. What’s your favorite kind of coat to wear all winter?

I love a good fall coat! I just got one about a week ago it is dark brown and corduroy. Nothing like fall to get you in the mood for sweaters and coats. :)
