Choosing Wedges Over Flip-Flops: Easy and Effective
Choosing wedges over flip-flops is one of the easiest ways to make your outfit look like you planned it out rather than threw on whatever was clean and within reach. (Guilty!)
Unless you’re going for incredibly tall wedges with several buckles, they’re just as easy to slip on and wear around. In some cases, they’re even more secure than flip-flops.
The only downside is the fact that they normally cost more, though if you have a thing for Havaianas, that’s not even always the case.
Imagine your $5 flip-flops and the outfits you normally wear them with, not counting yoga pants or running shorts paired with a t-shirt. Now imagine those same outfits with these:
The Ralph Lauren Cecilia Espadrilles, above, are available in so many different colors, you may be tempted to stock up.
The Mallory Wood Wedge Sandal may not be the best for chasing toddlers around, but if your kids are older and you want to start introducing some trends back into your everyday style, this is one inexpensive way to do it.
The Sperry Top-Sider Hillsboro looks pretty manageable, since there’s a low heel and no straps to fasten. Slip them on just as you would a pair of flip-flops and enjoy that nautical striped style for spring and summer.
The Steve Madden Magestee adds a trendy pop of coral to your outfit, but again, these may be best saved for times when your kids are with a sitter if they’re young. However, for those who don’t frequently have to haul or chase their kids around, even a heel like that one is worth a try.
