Behind Curtain Number One…

Living in small quarters can provide a challenge all its own, but when we’ve got more things that need to be done than space in which to do them — raise kids, cook meals, do laundry, run a small business, get some rest — a little creativity is in order if we want to make sense out of it all.

And sometimes, as it happens, the simplest solution can be one of the smartest.

Particularly for those of us living in spaces we rent rather than own, there’s not much we can do about a room that serves two purposes yet has no divider between its functions; for those of us who need desk space but simply don’t have any, a storage closet might have to do the trick in a pinch.

That’s where today’s post comes in: a host of ways in which a simple piece of drapery — as in a single- or double-panel curtain that can be purchased at Target, Walmart or even the local fabric store — can save a girl’s sanity. From cordoning off closet offices or reading nooks to hiding unsightly laundry rooms or storage areas, it’s amazing what one or two little pieces of cloth can do.

Simplicity to the rescue!

I have two storage closets that would make great office spaces.  Unfortunately, they’re each across the hall from each of my kids’ rooms. My very light sleeping kids :(

That cabinet/desk in the first photo is brilliant!  All such great ideas!
