My girls love popsicles but I really hate the thought of giving them all that sugar. For me, popsicles, unless they are the all-natural fruit type, are nothing more than frozen Kool-Aid; red dye and sugar. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

We can make our own, beat the heat and it only takes about 5 minutes prep time. You’ll need to freeze the popsicles for about 8 hours, so I suggest making a batch up the previous night after the kids have gone to bed or early in the morning before heading off for an activity filled day.

Strawberry Yogurt Pops

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cups of strawberries
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 1 cup of vanilla or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Directions

In a blender, combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth. Poor into pop molds, insert sticks and freeze. Freeze for 8 hours. Enjoy.

*For a variation you can add one whole banana to the mix for strawberry and banana pops.

Have you ever made homemade popsicles? What is your favorite flavor?
