We’ve all read the articles about the best clothing cuts for your body size and the right haircut for your face shape, but have you ever heard of the right cut and style flattering your body shape?
Your hair can actually flatter your figure. I never knew this until I came across an article in a magazine at my dentists office.
According to the article Tressed for Your Shape in the June issue of Women’s Health, if you are apple shaped, well-endowed breasts, rounded stomach and slim hips, like the gorgeous Jennifer Hudson, you should go for thinned-out layers with height at the crown. Body at the crown lengthens a round middle.
If you have an hourglass figure, well-endowed chest, curvy hips and a slimmer waist (think 36-24-36) like the sexy Sofia Vergara then you should go for medium-length waves. Soft curls complement the curves of your body.
If you are pear shaped, small bust with narrow shoulders and a bigger bum, hips and thighs, like the beautiful Jennifer Lopez, you should go for long lush waves to keep people focused on your top half and to distract them from your larger bottom half.
If you are petite, 5 foot 3 or under and have a small frame, like Mila Kunis you should go for shoulder-length or shorter hair with not too much volume. If you go too big, the hair will be overwhelming.
If you are tall and slender, slim with few curves, like Deepika Padukone you should definitely go for long, wavy or curly layers. The flow of the hair creates the illusion of curves on the body where there are none.
If you look at photos of these beautiful women, you will see that their stylists already know this wisdom. I also realized that I am totally sporting a hair don’t for my body type. I’m an hourglass but I’ve been styling my hair like I’m a cross between a petite pear. Time to get a new hair do.
According to this article, are you styling your hair correctly?
