Apps that Keep You Healthy
We live in a day and age where almost everything we could ever want is at our fingertips, including our health. Anything you could ever want to know about or track about your body, weight, and health now has an app to help you do so. Here are a few of my new favorites.
Pick the best produce with the Harvest app. It features a database of produce from A-Z and everything in between. It offers tips on how to choose the best fruits and vegetables. It tells you which fruits are vegetables are in season and when peak season is. It also tells you which foods are high in pesticide residue.
Fooducate helps demystify food labels. The app has a built in bar code scanner and once you scan the food, you are provided with a health rating from A-D. It will let you know if the food you are choosing is full of healthy nutrients or saturated with sketchy additives like high fructose corn syrup, MSG or trans fats.
This is a great way to stay on the healthy straight and narrow. You just enter your dietary restrictions or even a specific diet ( South Beach, no carbs, gluten free) and HealthyOut will use your location to suggest specific dishes at nearby restaurants. It will even advise you on making special requests.
Dottie’s Food Score
This is one of my favorite companion apps if you are following the Weight Watchers plan or just watching your calories in general. Dottie’s Food score app provides you with the Weight Watchers points, calories, fat, protein, fiber, carbs and sodium in foods from all of your favorite restaurants. Simply go to the app, type in the restaurant you are eating at, and the menu will appear with all the nutritional information. It’s great for when you find yourself at a restaurant to make sure you stay within your calories or when planning your meal ahead of time.
What’s your favorite healthy app to use?
