Unless you’re living under a rock, you’re likely to be a member of Groupon. Who doesn’t love the deal of the day? It’s a great way to be notified about all of the things you had no idea you wanted!

I’m kidding, but just a little bit. I definitely have indulged in things on Groupon that I might not otherwise have purchased, but for the deal.

I’ve scored some pretty amazing Groupons, too – just this past week, I got the $20 Barnes & Noble gift card for $10. I have a kid who is bound and determined to own the entire set of 40+ Magic Tree House books, and that gift card will help.

Groupon’s not the only game in town, though, as you may or may not know. Sure, you’ve probably heard of Living Social – it’s one of Groupon’s biggest competitors. There are several that you may not have heard of, and I’m here to give you the skinny on some of them.

Woot. Woot was probably the original Deal A Day site. They’re a little different than Groupon in that the deals are not localized. Woot sells one product a day on its website. Typically the products are some sort of electronics – TVs, DVD players, MP3 players, you name it. The deal is open for 24 hours or until it sells out – whichever comes first. Woot has expanded its offerings into Kids.Woot, Shirt.Woot and Wine.Woot for more specialized daily deals. There’s a Woot for everyone!

Eversave. Active in over 30 states, Eversave is set up more like a traditional Groupon. A minimum number of purchasers is not required for the deal to become active. What’s more, new users get $2 in Eversave rewards applied to their account, and $10 in rewards every time a new person you refer signs up!

Mamapedia Sweet Deals. Online magazine Mamapedia now offers deals focused specifically on moms and moms’ interests. Like Groupon, a minimum number of purchases must be made before the deal is “on.” Deals can last for several days and the coolest part? 5% of your purchase will be donated to the school or preschool of your choice!

Savvy Source. Savvy Source is focused on parents of preschoolers. Like Sweet Deals, Savvy Source gears its deals toward parents. 5% of purchases are donated to the Savvy Source Preschool Scholarship Fund. 5% of proceeds are also given back to preschools who have referred parents to their site. Another bonus? If you “like” the deal on Savvy Source, you can get up to $1 extra off your purchase!

If hunting around for deals on all these different sites sounds like more than you can handle, you can always turn to our sister site Smart Mom Deals which rounds-up the best deals of the day for moms and kids.

Obviously, there are tons more deal-a-day sites out there – starting signing up to save!

I have subscribed to Groupon and couple of other similar such sites. They are very good and provide good bargains.

The only negative point is that we get offers everyday and are tempted to buy those too.

Restaurants.com is one of those sites that arn’t mentioned. But the cool thing with them is if you are going on vacation you can purchase discounted gift cards and use at your destination city like Orlando which has over 100 restaurants.

Save your Change. Whenever you receive change, put it in a separate part of your wallet or purse, suggests Suze Orman, personal finance expert and author of Suze Orman’s Financial Guidebook. Transfer it to a piggy bank or special jar at the end of the day and promise not to touch it until you put it in the bank ï½…ï½–ï½…ï½’ï½™ few months or so.

    You’ll save: about $30 to $60 a month or $360 to $720 a year.

I like Groupon quite a bit. Some of the deals are extremely good. I have not tried the other deal sites though. Thanks for the info
