A Quartet of Sweet Reading Chairs

Whether it’s Tennyson or Twilight, The Canterbury Tales or The Hunger Games, you need a good reading chair in which to curl up as you properly transport yourself to a land far away.

Here, a quartet of instant classics sure to appeal to the romanticist, the fantasist, the biographer, the dreamer and every other character in your home.

Above, there’s the ever-affordable Ektorp chair by IKEA (a favorite writing chair for the author of this post, incidentally), which comes with a wide array of solid and patterned slipcover options to complement whatever decor it might be coming home to.

Next, perhaps best suited for the Team Edward and Team Jacob enthusiasts among us, is this hot pink confection created by design team Cate & Nelson to commemorate furniture brand BlÃ¥ Station’s 25th anniversary:

For the reader who likes to stretch out for a good long string of chapters, or maybe just likes curling up with company, Bass Industries offers this home theater seat in supple brown faux leather… also perfect for napping:

And lastly, for the never-out-of-style Shakespeare fans and Neruda enthusiasts out there, the classic and very famous midcentury modern Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen has been reupholstered into a rainbow of flavors, including this mustard-colored pattern available through Design Within Reach.

Whatever you choose to recline in while enjoying a good read, here’s hoping you live happily ever after, or at the very least, enjoy the chapter you’re living in today.

Happy reading!

These look perfect to curl up in. I have a reading chair, but it is also my husband favorite. It can be a challenge to see who gets it first.

Love the Ikea chair. I need seating for my home’s living room, and I thought it might be fun to throw a few reading chairs around a round leather ottoman. One can never have enough reading chairs!
