Confession: we don’t actually have fifty entire shades of grey to share with you in this post, but we certainly got your attention, didn’t we? And since the phrase itself is such a staple in water cooler conversations these days, why not take a minute to see a literal application of it, all wrapped up in a little design inspiration?
We’ve covered the fact on Interior Complex before that grey is slowly but surely becoming quite the superstar hue in interior design these days; in many ways, it’s perfect foundation color, lending itself to flexibility in all directions — elegant and polished or rustic and accessible, perfectly calm and bucolic or the base for bold, bright colors.
This truly neutral color doesn’t lean more toward cool or warm, but rather, sits squarely in the middle; it’s the perfect midpoint to be coupled with either warm or cool colors without clashing, and with a great grey couch and one or two other main pieces, a color palette can later be changed entirely without needing a total overhaul of every piece of furniture.
So, in the end, perhaps the greatest selling point of the color grey in a home is that it opens the door to endless possibilities. Couldn’t we all use a little liberation?
