I love fall. Additionally, I love fall fashion.
Fall is the perfect time of year because you hit the sweet spot in the weather where there’s just enough chill in the air to really enjoy the outdoors. My idea of a nice day outdoors does not include roasting on a beach in the sweltering heat, but I do love sitting outside with a cool breeze. You’ll find me outdoors more often in the cool Fall months and the Spring more than any other season.
It’s quite possible I have a scarf problem. I keep picking up a new one each time I’m at the store. I am very much a basics kind of girl when it comes to my key clothing pieces. A great fitting pair of jeans and a well fitted tee are awesome paired with colorful scarves, shoes and handbags.
I love to take risks with my accessories and keep my core pieces neutral, and scarves are the perfect way to try out a trendy pattern like chevron or bright color like magenta.
Make your summer maxi-dresses and sundresses last through the fall months by throwing on a scarf and jean jacket. Layering those summer staples with a few fall pieces can really extend your wardrobe.
Ballet flats are my favorite fall shoe because you can find so many in great patterns, colors, as well as in the basic leather version. Gone are the days of simple black and brown flats, you now have pops of print and color that can spruce up a fall outfit in an instant.
Add in the fact that they are so practical for a life running around with kids and it’s a win-win. You get to be fashionable as well as functional when you pick the right flats to wear with those long sleeve tees and jeans.
Black and brown riding boots are a necessity in my book. They are chic and functional at the same time. You elevate a boring look instantly when you add in a pair of riding boots.
Be certain that you choose carefully and if you are patient, save up for a quality leather pair because they will be far more comfortable and they will last a lot longer. Choose a pair that are timeless instead of overly trendy so they are truly an investment piece.
My new favorite accessory for fall is the newsboy cap. They often come in a variety of patterns like houndstooth as well as the basics like black and khaki. I like the caps that come adorned with a small buckle or buttons to add a little more texture.
These hats are the perfect way to save you from admitting publicly that you haven’t showered…no one will be the wiser because the unwashed hair will be tucked under this stylish cap.
These key pieces are how I’m moving my looks into fall, what are your key staples?
