3 Alternatives to Keratin Hair Treatments

Recently, I shared the pros and cons of using the traditional keratin treatments as a straitening option for hair. For those of you love the idea of having straight hair without the fuss and time necessary to make it happen, you may be considering keratin treatments.

But with the latest research confirming that those particular treatments have potential cancer causing ingredients, it may be wise to exercise caution and look for a viable alternative. So, I looked into some options that might just do the trick, or at least be a solid compromise.

3 Alternatives to Keratin Hair Treatments

Moroccan Oil & Flat Iron – 20 minutes According to the gal in the main image, Moroccan oil is just the ticket for taming wild and frizzy hair within 20 minutes, so I did a little more digging around and found this article over at the frisky where the writer shares her experience using Moroccan oil on her otherwise curly locks. A natural oil in lieu of a formaldehyde based treatment? I think I will!

KeraGreen – A green alternative to the traditional Keratin treatments is another option you can take that gives some of the same affects as Keratin, and it sits at the same price point as well.

Embrace your curls! I know this last one may not be something you all are fans of, but from one naturally wavy-frizzy haired gal to another – I’ve started to notice that wavy and curly hair is actually starting to come back as a trend, so perhaps there’s a way to embrace the curls at least some of the time so you’re not spending each day in and day out on a labor intensive beauty regime.

Beauty should not result in health risks and you should make certain you are aware of the risks you are taking before you invest money in expensive treatments that may be causing you great potential harm in the long run.

I, for one, would prefer to spend a little more time on my beauty routine, or simply embrace it’s natural state on occasion, rather than risk illness in the future.

Have you used Keratin Hair Therapy? What about the alternative treatments above?

I just use a straightener but love to have some curl somedays as well.

For me a girl with a straight hair is more attractive. They will become more beautiful and gorgeous. And also a curly hair adds more fashion.

I have spent the last year embracing my curls, and will never go back to straight hair! My (former) hairstylist had tried for months to get me to do a keratin straightening, and I refused because of all the risks. Then I started going to Devachan Salon, which specializes in treating curly hair, and I’ve never looked back.
